Under limited supervision, the Animal Resources Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Animal Resources Manager in the coordination and management of the day to day operations in animal husbandry.  The AR Supervisor provides oversight for lower level employees to include training, performance management and onboarding.  The AR supervisor will perform facility inspections and assist in all areas of animal husbandry on an as needed basis, and perform all related duties and tasks as required or assigned.   The AR Supervisor will also be responsible for responding to environmental monitoring systems in the animal facility, procurement of feed and bedding materials, maintaining detailed records, collection of animal census data and other duties as assigned to facilitate quality research.

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Biosafety Officer who will be responsible for protecting the Institute’s employees, contractors, visitors, the general public and the environment from potential exposures to Select Agents and Toxins; and to ensure that the Institute maintains full compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the Select Agents and Toxins regulations as well as all other applicable governmental regulations and guidelines, and internal requirements.    The Biosafety Officer will also serve as Responsible Official (RO).  As RO, will ensure compliance with all aspects of the Institute’s Select Agent Program in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Select Agents and Toxins regulations.  Will develop and implement supporting health and safety programs.  Will be responsible for reviewing and updating the Institute’s Select Agents Biosafety and Chemical Hygiene Plan, Security Plan and Incident and Emergency Response Plan.    Will review research projects involving human and animal pathogens or biological toxins, including select agents, recombinant DNA, transgenic plants and animals and advises researchers regarding appropriate biocontainment levels, safety practices and applicable regulatory guidelines. Provides assistance to researchers in obtaining and maintaining any required import or interstate transport permits for biological materials to be used at LBRI and transports infectious materials between campuses as needed, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Reporting to the Director of Research Administration and under limited direction, the Contracts Manager – Federal Contracts and Compliance, will oversee end-to-end contract management for the Institute and manage daily operations for all federal contracts and compliance of the Office of Research Contracts (ORC).   The Contracts Manager - Federal Contracts and Compliance will work closely with LBRI administrative leadership and scientific teams to oversee efficient operations of the Institute’s federal contracting process to include both pre- and post-award management and compliance reporting.  Will perform contract and subcontract administration in accordance with established policies and procedures, develop proposals, implement project controls, facilitate and manage effective internal and external client relationships, continuously analyze LBRI’s contractual risks and implement policies and practices to mitigate risk, research contract/new business opportunities, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.   Will be expected to both oversee work on all aspects of federal contract development, administration and execution including reviewing solicitations, developing internal analysis of contracting opportunities, and completing proposals to include drafting and reviewing all of the following: developing rates, pricing, basis of estimates, standard forms, narratives and all other related items.  The Contracts Manager will be responsible for participating in and monitoring LBRI’s ongoing performance on federal contracts to ensure adherence to contract terms and conditions, request contract modifications as needed, work with Federal agencies on contract closeouts and will prepare regular and ad-hoc reports as needed.   Will oversee external audits relating to LBRI’s federal contract work including GSA, Federal, HHS and DCA audits and prepare and file all necessary governmental regulatory reports and plans.   The Manager will also oversee the daily operations of the LBRI Office of Research Contracts.  Will work closely with the Director of Research Administration and other staff to identify staffing needs and available expertise, provide leadership and mentoring to all department staff, and work with the Human Resources Department as needed on performance evaluations, training and development of staff.
